Mini is making big moves in the electric car world and is introducing a fully-electric concept vehicle sporting the automaker's signature look with a few next-gen flourishes.
The new EV design, which is called the Mini Electric Concept (at least for the time being), was unveiled at the IAA Cars 2017 event in Munich. The small car is designed for short city drives, according to the copmany, and is meant to offer a new zero-emissions option for urban dwellers.

Mini's parent company BMW Group aims to put the Concept design on the road in 2019, joining industry rivals like Tesla and GM with more accessible EV options for the driving public. The new design is the first truly all-electric car from Mini meant for mass production, although the automaker does offer electrified versions of a few of its current models.

A New Vehicle Has More Energy Capacity Than a Tesla and More Torque Than a Tank

GOING OFF-ROAD

With sedans, SUVs, semi trucks, and even buses being converted to run on electricity, it was only matter of time before off-road vehicles were given the same treatment. In this particular case,  however, it’s an off-road vehicle with capabilities that outmatch most EVs in production and even some heavy-duty tanks.

Enter the Nikola Zero UTV (utility task vehicles) from Nikola Powersports, a vehicle that enables drivers to take their trip off-road and drive for miles without the harmful carbon dioxide emissions.

The Nikola Zero has a base price of $35,000 and currently has two models: one that has 415 horsepower and another with 555 horsepower. Both models can be equipped with a 75 kWh, 100 kWh or 125 kWh battery pack, with the final option enabling the vehicle to travel nearly 321 km (200 miles) on a single charge. Even the lesser battery capacity will still allow for a range beyond 160 km (100 miles).

Volvo Cars to go all electric!

Volvo Cars, the premium car maker, has announced that every Volvo it launches from 2019 will have an electric motor, marking the historic end of cars that only have an internal combustion engine (ICE) and placing electrification at the core of its future business.

The announcement represents one of the most significant moves by any car maker to embrace electrification and highlights how over a century after the invention of the internal combustion engine electrification is paving the way for a new chapter in automotive history.

“This is about the customer,” said HÃ¥kan Samuelsson, president and chief executive. “People increasingly demand electrified cars and we want to respond to our customers’ current and future needs. You can now pick and choose whichever electrified Volvo you wish.”

Volvo Cars will introduce a portfolio of electrified cars across its model range, embracing fully electric cars, plug in hybrid cars and mild hybrid cars.

It will launch five fully electric cars between 2019 and 2021, three of which will be Volvo models and two of which will be high performance electrified cars from Polestar, Volvo Cars’ performance car arm. Full details of these models will be announced at a later date.

SONDORS Electric Car

“There are enough creators for useless stuff and very few who actually create what's useful. Henry Ford built the first affordable car and changed the face of transportation. I want to build the first affordable electric vehicle and transform transportation once again.

I first started an electric bicycle company because I wanted to ride in Malibu, feeling free and having fun. I wanted to offer a bicycle that was built with high quality components for under $1,000. Everybody thought it could not be done. I have since shipped SONDORS electric bikes to the delight of more than 17,000 loyal SONDORS owners worldwide.  Now I want to build an electric vehicle for $10,000.

The next great American electric vehicle is being built in my garage. Together we will start the electric transportation revolution."

THE $35,000 TESLA Model 3 is finally here. It is sleek, quick as hell, and meant for the masses. And it is the most important car the company will ever build.
The Model 3 is the car Tesla Motors has promised since the company’s founding, the car that CEO Elon Musk is convinced will push EVs into the mainstream and the technology to an inflection point. Not to put too fine a point on it, it is the car Musk believes will change the world.
“It’s very important to accelerate the transition to sustainable transport,” Musk said on stage. “This is really important for the future of the world.”
